Dr. Erynn Elmore

Dr. Elmore joined the CEREAL Lab in Fall 2020. She defended in Fall 2025 and graduated in Spring 2026 while maintaining a full-time day job throughout her PhD. Dr. Elmore wrote her dissertation, “Understanding Black Students’ Engagement in Informal Computing Environments: A Comprehensive Study of Student Experiences and Parental Support,” under the direction of her committee: Dr. Veronica Cateté, Dr. Tiffany Barnes, Dr. Lina Battestilli, and Dr. Christy Byrd. She starts her post-academic career continuing her work with the federal government, setting sights and travel to Seoul. Her research interests are improving the educational experiences of Black and Brown girls in computer science. She enjoys dancing, binge-watching TV, and traveling.
